Ms. Schatra - Instructional Team Leader (ITL)
Hello!
I grew up in Howard County and even went to Worthington ES when I was a little girl for grades 3-5. I am looking forward to working with your child this year and love teaching kindergarten!
I am certified in Elementary Education as well as Early Childhood Education, earning both my undergrad and graduate degrees from Towson University. I began my teaching career at Talbott Springs, teaching 2nd. In 2007, I came to Worthington to teach kindergarten and now I couldn't imagine teaching any other grade. It is very rewarding to watch my students grow and learn together.
When I am not teaching I love to cook and bake, go shopping, travel to new places, listen to music and go to concerts, and spend time with my friends, family, and my doggy - Peanut!

I am proud to be a part of the kindergarten team here at Worthington. I have taught fourth grade, second grade and kindergarten. My career began in Raleigh, North Carolina. After the birth of my oldest child we moved back home to Maryland. I decided to stay home with my children for several years. During this time I taught preschool part-time and was a substitute teacher here in the county. I worked one year as a paraeducator at Bryant Woods Elementary before moving to Worthington. I was a paraeducator in third grade for a year before being offered the kindergarten position. I love the wonderful team I work with, and kindergarten is a joy to teach. I have the best job in the world!
I am a graduate of Oakland Mills High School. I am so thrilled to be teaching in the county where I grew up. I have three children Jack, Reilly and Joan. They attend Reservoir High School, Hammond Middle and Fulton Elementary School. My husband Evan is a graduate of Atholton High School. We have been married for 17 years. We are fortunate to have lots of family in the area and we enjoy traveling!

Hello! Here is some background information about my educational and teaching experience. I attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and received my Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Special Education. I started my doctorate work in Teacher Leadership at Walden University. For now, I have put that on hold. Last school year I pursued my National Board Certification. This fall I am starting a graduate program to earn an Elementary Mathematics Instructional Leadership certification. My current certifications include Early Childhood (Pre-K through 3rd grade) and Special Education (K-8). In 19 years, I have developed a wide range of classroom experiences which shaped me to be the teacher I am today. This will be my 8th year at Worthington. The children and community here are wonderful. I am happy to call it my home.
Okay, now for some fun facts about me! I am Filipino and was born on Guam. When I was 16, I moved to the United States. I had a wonderful time living in Boston, Albuquerque, and Detroit. My husband, Chris, and I have been married for 20 years. We have been in Maryland for 18 years and are happily settled here. In 2004, we adopted a beautiful baby girl from China. We named her Faith, and she is a proud 'wildcat' at Worthington Elementary. This school year she is in 6th grade. What a blessing she is to our family! I enjoy so many other things. My favorite animals are snow owls and cats. I love playing the piano, traveling, drawing anime, watching movies, and solving puzzles. I also enjoy NFL football. Because I have lived in different parts of the country, I am a fan of three teams: Ravens, Broncos, and Patriots. So you may see me wearing one or all three jerseys during the football season. Don't ask me how I choose when they end up playing each other, because it is a difficult decision!
Kindergarten is the grade I LOVE to teach! I enjoy working with and challenging young students. Your children and I will have a FANTASTIC year. At anytime you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Ms. Leotta - Teacher
Hello! I’m so excited this year to be joining the Worthington Kindergarten Team! Last fall I graduated from Towson University with my Early Childhood Degree and have obtained my Elementary Education Certification as well. I have experience student teaching in both Kindergarten and First Grade. With my first year teaching I’m learning a lot with my students and enjoying this wonderful experience.
I’m from Montgomery County area, but enjoy the Howard County Community and hope to move that direction eventually. In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking my Siberian Husky, Mickey, exercising outside, watching the Redskins play football, and spending time with my family and friends. I also, really enjoy beach and can be often found at my family’s condo in Bethany Beach!

I am a native of New Jersey and moved to Maryland in 1991. I have been married for 20 plus years, and have a wonderful son name Drew who will be graduating from Centennial High in 2013.
I attended Rutgers University, and worked for Lucent Technologies before becoming a stay-at-home mom. While volunteering at Worthington in my son's classes, I realized how much I enjoyed the children and staff. In 2002, I decided to put in for a position as a paraeducator and the rest is history!
I have a passion for fashion and interior design. I also love to shop, exercise, and travel. Most of all, I love interacting with the babies (kindergartners) and my team!!!!

I grew up in Appleton, Wisconsin and remain a Green Bay
Packers fan.This is my
eighth year at Worthington Elementary. My first position here was as a special education
assistant. The switch to kindergarten assistant was a
“dream come true” as I love working with five-year-olds. They have a way of
expressing themselves that is unique and makes me smile each day. My family includes two
children---a daughter, Julie and a son, Scott. I have five grandchildren. I have a beagle named Freckles. She is my exercise buddy, and we enjoy walking together. I am thrilled to have an opportunity to
work with your children.
